Der getanzte «Hymnus Christi» aus den Johannes-Apokryphen geht zurück auf eine Darbietung des Reigens Christi mit seinen Jüngern, die Bernhard Wosien (1908–1986) für die Gemeinschaft von Findhorn in Schottland 1977 choreografiert hatte.
Für die Feier zu seinem 100. Geburtstag in Findhorn 2008 wurde die Originalversion des Mysterienspiels adaptiert, als Basis für die Gestaltung dieses Filmprojekts. Diese neue Interpretation bezieht sich zwar auf den zentralen Teil der Choreografie, basiert aber ihrerseits auf dem Symbol des Lebensbaumes in Bewegung und verbindet dieses Symbol mit einem getanzten Kreuz-Weg.
Das Mysterienspiel ist gefolgt von einer Auswahl traditioneller griechischer Feiertänze, die noch heute zu festlichen Anlässen getanzt werden. Im Zusammenhang mit der Geschichte des «Hymnus» wurden sie als Symbole in Bewegung interpretiert.
The Hymn is a guide for the journey to God. In his account John the Divine reports, that Jesus sang and danced with His disciples on the night before He was taken to be crucified. In the context of the Apocryphal Text this dance constitutes a sacrament, like that of the meal and the washing of feet. Jesus takes His disciples on a transcendental journey from the natural world to the world beyond the stars. By the power of His Being, He brings about the unity of worlds still held in the travail of becoming, presenting us with the universal model contained in the concept of all time: I Was – I Am – I Will Be.
